Vojvodina Provincial Secretary of Health Zoran Gojkovic said today that the number of newly infected and Covid patients who are hospitalized is declining every day, and that the most important thing now is to maintain such a trend as long as possible so as not to jeopardize the start of the school year.

"From the unfavorable epidemiological situation in July, we are now in August which epidemiologists qualify as uncertain. We have fewer and fewer newly infected people every day, both in hospitals and on ventilators. As of yesterday, we had about 1,900 hospitalized people in Serbia, 73 of them on mechanical ventilation," Gojkovic told TV Pink.

He said that there were 369 patients in hospitals in Vojvodina this morning, with the most difficult cases treated at the Clinical Center (KC) Vojvodina - 122 of them, six of whom are on ventilators.

"The number of newly infected people in Vojvodina in the last seven days was on average in the double-digits per day, but we are moving towards a good situation. The only place that is critical and where we see the possibility of the situation getting worse again is from our citizens returning from vacations in various destinations."

Gojkovic stresses that the key is to maintain the declining number of coronavirus cases until the end of August, so that the next serious epidemiological effort, and perhaps the most important part of it before the fall is met properly, to avoid having an increasing number of newly infected people endanger the start of the school year.
