Members of the Sector for Emergency Situations of the Interior Ministry (MUP) are on standby 24 hours a day due to heavy rain, monitoring all watercourses, providing assistance to the population and evacuating citizens of Serbia in all endangered municipalities.
During the day, emergency situation was declared in the city of Loznica, the municipalities of Mali Zvornik, Krupanj, Osecina, Mionica, Lucani and parts of the municipalities of Ljubovija, Kosjeric and Arilje.
Specialist rescue teams from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sabac, Valjevo, Sremska Mitrovica and Cacak, along with the Gendarmerie, yesterday and today evacuated 71 people in the municipalities of Krupanj, Ljubovija, Kosjeric and Lucani.
As can be seen in the MUP photos, water has risen so much in some places that rescue teams are making their way through yards in boats.
The situation is more stable in Krupanj, Loznica, Osecina, while in Ljubovija, Guca, Lucani and Arilje it is still critical and monitored on the ground.
Otherwise, reacting to the announcement of the Republic Hydrometeorological Service that a significant rise in river levels can be expected, the ministry put all units of the Sector for Emergency Situations on standby three days ago, especially in the northern, central and western parts of the Republic of Serbia.
