The famous Post Office on Sava Square to be restored to the way it was in 1927
"It will have the same shape and facade plastic that it had when it was built in 1927"
Reconstruction of the Post Office building on Sava Square should start next year, and it will be restored to the appearance it had before the bombing in the Second World War.
As the city urban planner Marko Stojcic said, detailed analyses have been done in the past few weeks, to see if it is technically feasible to return the building on Sava Square built in 1927 to its old appearance.
"We are completely reconstructing the building to get it to look like it did before the bombing in the Second World War. It will have the same shape and facade plastic that it had when it was built in 1927," said Stojcic.
He added work on the design is starting and that they expect to obtain the necessary permits and the beginning of construction works next year.
The post office itself will be moved to another location, as the building will be closed when the reconstruction starts.
After the building was renovated after the Second World War, it was expanded with another floor. With the new reconstruction, the building will be returned to its original condition.
Stojcic expects that the reconstruction will take about two years.
