This beauty is located only a kilometer from Zemun: Just cross the bridge and indulge in nature
It 's not unusual to come across a wild animal on the path
Right next to the urban part of the city, on the Banat side, lies a real gift of nature - the forested Danube banks of the Pancevo Marsh.
Inhabitants of Borca are well aware of these beauties, which start on the embankment in Crvenka, and then go upstream along the Danube towards uninhabited areas, all the way to Dunavac.
But, even those who live in Zemun are not far from this natural paradise. It's enough to cross the Pupin Bridge by bicycle, and then choose whether to turn right towards Crvenka, or left towards Beljarica.
The secrets of Beljarica were revealed to us by Zoran Bukvic, from the Street for Cyclists Citizen Association.
"Beljarica is located near Galenika, a little behind it. You can descend into the area between the embankment and the river and follow the roads, and that's ideal when the water level is lower," says Bukvic.
It's not unusual to come across a wild animal on the path, deer come to the embankment to drink in the forest that surrounds so-called swamp patches.
Namely, the bank of the river is not located right next to the embankment, but is separated from the road precisely by these patches, which together with the forest form a secretive zone, only a kilometer away from Zemun by air.
These patches of marshland can be seen along the road to Crvenka (to the right of the bridge, looking from Zemun), and the branches that rise from the water and the birds that land on the surface are truly soul-healing.
So, by cycling, you can explore some hidden parts of Belgrade, in that way escaping from the high-rises and the asphalt. And not only recreational cyclists, but also kayakers enjoy this beauty. True, they need to be a little more fit, but enjoyment is guaranteed.
