The Executive Board of the FSS has decided during Wednesday's meeting that football in Serbia will continue following the model that includes no playoffs, in either the top-tier SuperLiga, or the First League of Serbia.

As Telegraf has already reported on Tuesday (in Serbian), the clubs will play the remaining four matchdays, after which the table will be closed - and that was today's decision of the FSS Executive Board, regarding the continuation of football after the coronavirus epidemic.

It was decided that the resumption of the competitions should be scheduled for May 30, and that the remaining 4 matchdays will be played without playoffs.

Another decision is to end this season without any relegations, so as not to cause damage to those clubs that might have had a chance to "survive" in their respective leagues through playoffs. Instead, the next SuperLiga season it will be expanded to 18 clubs and it will be played under a new model, without playoffs, but instead with what's described as a two-round system in which 34 matchdays in total will be played.

The Serbian SuperLiga will be complemented by two teams from the (second-tier) First League of Serbia, where the last four matchdays will see a great struggle to join the elite between the clubs Graficar, Metalac, and Backa, while Zlatibor, Kabel, and Kolubara will also also have a fighting chance.
