Day after: How is Serbia's brewing industry doing, and how one beer beat corona
Craft brewing is one of the worst-hit branches of small businesses around the world, given the nature of their sale, which is mostly directly to establishments
The "day after" has already begun, and the future of work is already happening in these moments. Many global economists, as well as domestic ones, agree that coronavirus will change the way we do business. They say this is "a once in 100 years event."
What happens after the crisis, what will entrepreneurs be doing once the state of emergency is lifted? How will the business segment, small, medium and large companies function?
How to prepare for the post-coronavirus period? Telegraf Biznis will speak to people from all economic fields about their ways of fighting and preparing for the coming period, their fears, challenges, but also some fortunate circumstances. You can send us your suggestions and experiences at biz@@telergaf.rs
We asked Vladimir Stojkovic, co-owner and director of Dogma Brewery, what to do after coronavirus, how they see the day after the end of the epidemic. He also told Telegraf Biznis that the company made a maneuver that was not planned, and in this way managed to save jobs.
This is otherwise a brewery that is the largest Serbian exporter of craft beer, which is preparing to export 58,000 cans of beer these days, and whose business has flourished thanks to an online store.
"We previously considered the possibility of starting an online sales channel, and the pandemic made us do it sooner and there is no doubt that we will continue to sell our beer this way.
People's habits will change, and so there will be those who would rather have a beer in their house, on the terrace or somewhere in nature, than go to a pub. Nevertheless, we will strive to continue to promote all the benefits of craft brewing. Last year, we gathered abut 15 of the best craft breweries from Europe at the first Super Can Fest beer festival, and along with education and tasting of the latest products, we talked about why beer from the can is our first choice.
In the four years that we have existed, we've become a leading exporter of craft beer in the Balkans, but we want to be a leader in responsible business. We care about nature, and for that reason we see enjoying beer and cans side by side. The can preserves the properties of our product, it's easy to cool and transport, and, importantly, they can be recycled endlessly.
We will see what the months ahead bring us, but thanks to the quality and the way we work, at the peak of the pandemic we prepared our biggest batch of exports in the last two years, so this week we will send 58,000 cans of our beer to the UK.
It is precisely this sales channel that, in addition to the Dogma online store, maintains our business during the pandemic."
