Curfew continues this weekend: People banned from leaving home from 6 pm on Friday until Monday

Serbian president says the epidemic is slowing down, according to what he saw in the latest results - but would still wait with making any prognosis

The curfew will be in force this coming weekend as well, from 6 pm on Friday until 5 am on Monday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after visiting the Karaburma Military Medical Hospital in Belgrade, that will be dedicated to treating COVID-19 patients.

He said that, according to what he saw in the latest results, the epidemic is slowing down - but would still wait with making any prognosis.

"Doctors are in favor of extending the ban on movement for the next 2 weeks," he said and stressed that there will be no change regarding weekend curfews, and that it will be in force from this coming Friday starting at 6 pm until Monday at 5 am.

When it comes to equipping the hospital he was touring, he said he hoped we would not need it at this time, but unfortunately we will probably need it in the winter or fall.

"You saw one of the biggest intensive care rooms with 60 beds. I have hope. We need to start working with gloves in our country. We're opening labs. We will also have to hurry with the Clinical-Hospital Center (KCS), the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, to make sure for the future. As of Monday, we will be able to start manufacturing 200,000 surgical masks. I hope that some things will not surprise us in the coming days," said Vucic after the visit.

Hospital completed 3 days before deadline

Three days before the scheduled deadline, construction works on the reconstruction and construction of the new hospital of the Karaburma Military Medical Center (VMV), intended for the treatment of patients with coronavirus, donated by the Termomont company and its partners, has been completed. Within 14 days, this new hospital with a capacity of 60 beds has been built, so that the capacity of VMC Karaburma has now been expanded to 140 beds.

The value of the investment made by Termomont and its partners in the renovation of 1,000 square meters of the old facility, upgrading it to 1,300 square meters, which is the current size of the new hospital, as well as the construction of an access road, amounts to more than 37 million dinars.

The owner of Termomont points out that the concern was not the amount of money to be spent, but to build the hospital as soon as possible in order to help people in need.
