According to the latest data, 4,054 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Serbia, of which almost half (1,495 persons) are from Belgrade, according to a report of the Institute of Public Health Batut.
Three weeks ago, the number of those infected with the virus in Belgrade was 173, which means there has been an over eight-fold increase. The second city by the number of infected persons is no longer Valjevo, but Nis, which currently has 536 people suffering from COVID-19 (as opposed to 37 three weeks ago).
The infection has also spread rapidly in Cuprija, where 180 people tested positive for coronavirus. This town, with a population of about 30,000, is one of the hotspots of the virus in Serbia, and even members of its General Hospital medical staff have contracted the disease.
Novi Sad is in the fourth place (169), followed by Krusevac (84) and Valjevo (82), Leskovac (76), Zajecar (59) and Vranje (57).
