4,054 coronavirus cases in Serbia in total; There's been a record jump in new cases, 424 in one day

A total of 4,054 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been registered in the Republic of Serbia by 3 pm on April 13, while five more peole have died, bringing the total number of victims to 85.

Over the last 24 hours, 424 new cases have been confirmed, the highest number so far in a single day. The majority of the newly ill patients are come from the Gerontology Center in Nis - 140 of them.

There are 138 patients on ventilators right now.

The Pulmonology Clinic of the Clinical Center of Serbia announced today that it is operating at full capacity, and that all ventilators the hospital has have been put to use, while 15 patients are treated at the intensive care unit.

Coronavirus has over the past day killed the first victim in Topola, and the fifth in Cacak.

The police in the town of Nis today arrested M.S. (47) onf suspicion that he committed a serious criminal offense against human health in connection with the offense of infectious disease transmission.

It is suspected that he, as the deputy director, did not take all the necessary measures and actions to prevent the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19, which resulted in the infection of 135 residents and four employees at a (nursing home) facility - the Nis police said.
