Doctor from Prokuplje dead from coronavirus: She is the 4th and youngest victim in Serbia

B.LJ. (59) from Prokuplje, a doctor at the gynecology ward of the Nis Health Center, passed away at about 4 pm yesterday at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the Clinical Center in Nis. As we have learned, she was in contact with the woman from Lugano, Switzerland, and she had diabetes.

According to our information, she was admitted to this healthcare facility a few days ago because of coronavirus symptoms. Her condition worsened, so she was connected to a ventilator, but her body failed to cope with the disease.

Our sources state that she was in contact with a woman from Lugano, from whom several persons in Nis have already contracted the disease.

"She had a fever but continued working for five days. She did not report that she was in contact with the woman by whom most (in Nis) got infected," says our source, adding that B.LJ. had diabetes.

According to her acquaintances, B.LJ. first worked as a doctor in Prokuplje, to several years ago transfer to the Nis Health Center.

She also worked as a gynecologist in a private clinic.

She is the first victim of the dangerous contagion in Nis, and the fourth in Serbia.

Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar has confirmed that she had passed away.

The first person to die of coronavirus in Serbia was a man from who passed away at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina last Friday, March 20. Immediately the next day, March 21, a 92-year-old woman died at the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases of the Clinical Center of Serbia. On Monday, a 60-year-old woman died at the Clinical Hospital Center "Dr. Dragisa Misovic."
