Belgrae's Nikola Tesla Airport will shut down today to international traffic, starting from 12 noon.

Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic also confirmed that traffic at the Belgrade airport will be restricted, with flights allowed only with a special permit.

The closure of the airport to international traffic is a new measure by the government that will be adopted at today's session due to the current situation with coronavirus.

"By restricting and stopping passenger traffic we are trying to prevent bringing in more infection to Serbia, in order to give our healthcare system enough time to have enough doctors and enough healthy doctors to be able to protect us for a longer period of time," said Stefanovic.

He specified that aircraft bringing in experts who could help our country cope with the crisis will be allowed to land at the airport.

Today, the state will also consider tightening measures affecting border crossings.
