Two more women have coronavirus: New cases of infection in Serbia, four people so far ill with virus
So far, there have been four coronavirus patients in our country
Two more cases of coronavirus infections have been confirmed this morning, bringing the total number of people infected in Serbia to four. As RTS reports, the two new cases are at the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Belgrade. According to what Telegraf has learned, two women have became ill.
They tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, with results arriving around 7 pm. According to Tanjug, they were previously in contact with an infected person, who is currently abroad.
After their departure from Serbia, the two infected citizens of our country felt the first symptoms of the disease. Their condition is stable.
From 8 pm last night until 8 am this morning, samples from five people were tested, two of whom were positive while three were negative for the novel coronavirus.
The government is expected to meet this morning to discuss new, stricter preventive measures proposed by the Working Group formed to control coronavirus.
The second case in Serbia, this time in a Chinese national, was confirmed yesterday.
He is treated at the Infectious Clinic of the Clinical Center of Serbia and his condition is stable for now.
The Chinese man infected with the virus is employed by a Chinese mobile company, Telegraf.rs has learned. He lives and works in Serbia.
He is employed by a local representative office and is the second businessperson in Serbia to be infected with the virus that is affecting the entire world.
Telegraf.rs has informally learned that this Chinese national was not infected in China, but rather most likely by someone who came from that country.
The first case of coronavirus in Serbia was confirmed in Subotica in 43-year-old man I. DJ.
He is an entrepreneur from Backa Topola who reported to the doctor in Subotica late last week when he was admitted to a hospital there. Coronavirus was confirmed on Friday, March 6. He became infected while repeatedly staying with his sister in Budapest, Hungary.
Safety measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 have not been and will not be taken at the company where the first infected person in Serbia works.
How to behave if you suspect you are infected
The Ministry of Health and the Batut Public Health Institute have made the following recommendations to all citizens who suspect they might be infected with this virus:
- if symptoms of respiratory tract infection like fever, sneezing, coughing, runny nose, shortness of breath, or other are felt - you should call an epidemiologist of the Institute on the phone, or an epidemiologists of an institute of public health responsible for the area your residence, for instructions on how to proceed;
- for further information, call the Ministry of Health at 064 8945 235, or the Batut Institute of Public Health of Serbia at 011 2684 566, or institutes of public health in the territory where you reside, whose contact information can to be found on a link posted on the Ministry of Health website;
- certainly increase hand hygiene (wash with warm water and soap), avoid contact with others and use a handkerchief in case of sneezing or coughing.
