Paracin resident drives truck with 750 kilos of marijuana: Seized drugs worth 180 million dinars
The drugs were placed in 763 packages hidden in a special compartment
Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic says the police seized 750 kilograms of marijuana overnight, dealing another major blow to organized crime and drug traffickers in our country.
"I am glad that members of the police have understood my message that in the fight against narcotics they must be harsh and, despite the great results they achieve, remain dedicated to this fight every day. Thank you to all the people in the police who fight against drug traffickers, because they are protecting the lives of both our children and of all citizens of Serbia," said the minister.
Stefanovic's message to members of the police is that they must show that there is no drug dealer they cannot reach.
"I believe that this seizure will be just one of many this year that will show the commitment of the Republic of Serbia to the fight against drug trafficking," said Minister Stefanovic.
Last night, Ministry of Interior officers, in cooperation with the Customs Administration, found and seized about 750 kilograms of marijuana and arrested I.L., 33, a resident of Paracin, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of illicit manufacturing and trafficking of narcotic drugs.
The police found 763 packages of marijuana on the Vatin border crossing, hidden in a custom made compartment inside a truck driven by the suspect. The total value of the seized drugs is about 180 million dinars.
The suspect is currently detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Pancevo along with a criminal complaint.
