"Priveg" is one of the most archaic manifestations displaying rituals associated to the cult of the dead, held in the village of Laznica in the Zagubica municipality, eastern Serbia.

The event begins on Saturday morning, when young men start going door to door collecting firewood. During the day, the "priveg" fire is lit, respecting religious customs and traditions, reports regional internet portal E-Branicevo.

Through various customs such as letting water, preparing fire and dedicating a song and dance to the dead, the locals show how much they foster their traditions and the way they preserve the memory of their dead.

A large number of participants are expected both from the Zagubica municipality and from other parts of Serbia, as well as the neighboring countries. The level of attendance makes this specific event one of the best visited in this part of the country.

The event is organized by the Laznica Municipality and the Zagubica Tourist Organization, and sponsored by the municipality.
