Canada-based explorer firm Medgold Resources, which previously announced that it had found indicators in southern Serbia that rich precious metal deposits are located in the area, has now confirmed those results.

The company has rights to two explorer areas: the Donje Tlamino and Surlica Dukat, both located close to the border with Bulgaria and North Macedonia, near Bosilegrad, in the far southeast of Serbia, a part of a strategic partnership with Fortuna Silver Mines. That space covers more than 100 square kilometers.

They have found about seven million tons of ore at just one site, within the Tlamino project, with about 680,000 ounces, or 19.3 tons of gold, worth just over $1 billion, while exploration continues in that area.

As has been established, the gold content at the site is on average about three grams per ton. For example, deposits with a gram of gold per ton, if accompanied by appropriate quantities of ore, are considered profitable.

Medgold intends to expand its activities to other parts of Serbia.

In the same project, Medgold Resources also found an ore layer of about 40 meters containing 8.32 grams of gold per ton, and an almost incredible 193 grams per ton of silver. Their goal is to become the leading gold searchers in Serbia by generating survey projects in early stages.

Medgold currently has five approved search rights. According to them, this belt of Serbia has not been sufficiently explored, although it is geologically well mapped.

Search in this area began in the 1950s when Yugoslav state-owned companies explored lead and zinc.

During this period, precious metals were not commonly searched for.
