Stefan, 18, beaten to death in Velika Plana: Minors struck him on the head with baseball bats
The showdown between the young men was allegedly arranged earlier
The young men who on Sunday night in Velika Plana battered Stefan F., 18, in a fight between two groups, inflicting injuries on him from which he later died at the Emergency Center in Belgrade, were already known to police.
The fight happened around 4 a.m. on Sunday, in front of a downtown cafe. Two groups of young men, including minors, were reportedly involved in the clash. Stefan F., 18, was attacked by two young men who struck him multiple times, after which he fell to the ground. He was immediately transported to the Emergency Center in Belgrade, where he died yesterday.
According to the daily Novosti, the young men who beat him up were already known to police. The same newspaper said that the fight was prearranged.
"Allegedly they were supposed to settle an earlier dispute, but not only did that not happen, they immediately started to brawl. The fight was started by a 17-year-old, a friend of P.V. who used a bat to hit L.K. on the head, and when he swung it toward P.M., he managed to defend himself. Then P.V. pulled out a knife and stabbed P.M. to the left side of his chest, causing him a serious life-threatening injury by puncturing the pulmonary pleurae," sources familiar with the case told Novosti.
When passers-by saw the injured persons and realized the seriousness of the situation, they called an ambulance, after which P.M. was taken to the Clinical Center in Nis, where his condition was stabilized, while the police, as we learned, are intensively searching for P.V.
According to Novosti, P. V. in the past took part in several similar clashes, one of them taking place in February 2017 when 16-year-old Nis resident D.S. was stabbed while four other juveniles ended up at the Children's Surgery Clinic after they were battered in a fight near the Dusko Radovic elementary school. That bloody brawl was interrupted by the police.
