World's longest panoramic gondola ski lift is almost complete in Serbia: First passengers in May

In 55 cabins, the 9-kilometer panoramic gondola, going from the center of the mountain resort to Peak Tornik, will be able to carry 600 passengers per hour

The construction of the Zlatibor Gold Gondola is in the final phase, two and a half years since the official start of works.

The testing of the panoramic ski lift connecting the center of Zlatibor with the Tornik ski center is expected soon.

This project of the municipality of Cajetina, worth 13 million euros, will significantly complement the tourist offer of Mt. Zlatibor and contribute to an increase in the number of visitors to what is already one of the most visited Serbian mountains.

Works are continuing in Ribnica, at the interstation of the most modern air route of the Zlatibor gondola - despite snow, strong wind and sub-zero temperatures.

"The most intensive work is done at the interstation near Lake Ribnica where garages are being completed, the interstation construction is being completed, and of course works on the engine room and the wiring. The gondola's engine is located here by Lake Ribnica," said Bojana Bozanic, Director of the public company (JP) Gold Gondola.

Aleksandar Kalicanin, the responsible contractor from Amiga Kraljevo, added that the main cable is currently being installed from the starting station to the interstation, which is about four and a half kilometers in one direction.

"That means about nine kilometers in both directions. The cable itself weighs some 90 tons, so it is a challenge," says Kalicanin.

Along with the connection of the starting station, the interstation and Tornik, which are connected with 36 pillars, electrical works are also done to connect a substation with the communications, signal cable.
