Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure state secretary and 4 others arrested
An official statement from the ministry is expected
Five people, including M.P., a state secretary with the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, have been arrested on suspicion of criminal offenses of abuse of office and abuses in connection with public procurement committed between August 2018 and May 2019.
There are grounds for suspicion that employees of the Railway Infrastructure company M.J., B.A. and P.C., assisted by M.P., favorized a company whose director is Z.S. in obtaining railway jobs, and doing this through public procurement procedures, contrary to the Law on Public Procurement and in violation of other regulations.
For the sake of feigning competition and appearance of legality, the suspect M.M., the director of another company, issued so-called "service offers" which made sure the company of the suspect Z.S. would get the jobs.
Searches are underway in several locations in Belgrade and Novi Sad. An official statement from the ministry is expected.
In the next 48 hours, these persons will be brought before and questioned by the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office.
