"Our role is unchanged": European Union welcomes Grenell's dialogue efforts

Head of the European Union Office in Pristina Nataliya Apostolova says the efforts of US special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Richard Grenell are welcome - but also that the EU will fulfill its obligations regarding the dialogue, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.

Apostolova recalled that the format of the dialogue has not been changed.

"Currently, the EU is facilitating the dialogue based on the Security Council resolution. This is also the desire of the UN General Assembly and of course the EU will fulfill its obligations," Apostolova told Pristina-based Gazeta Express.

According to her, assistance in the dialogue process from any other parties, individuals or states is welcome.

"I think Ambassador Grenell is dedicated more to economic aspects of normalization of Belgrade-Pristina relations. His efforts are of course welcome. And we want to see more economy. But the dialogue has not changed its format. That is why I say that we should not worry about EU's role in the dialogue," Apostolova concluded.

Apostolova welcomes Borrell

Natalya Apostolova today also welcomed the arrival of EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell and said that the first visit was always special.

"Welcome to Kosovo, Josep Borrell! The first time is always special," Apostolova wrote on Twitter.

As announced, Borrell will meet with Hashim Thaci, the president of provisional Pristina institutions, and with representatives of parliamentary parties and non-governmental organizations. He will also visit Belgrade tomorrow, where he will meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
