Trump envoy's condition for Pristina: Abolish taxes on Serbian goods ASAP for progress in dialogue
Richard Grenell met in Pristina with the president of so-called Kosovo Hashim Thaci, and after the meeting, said he would focus on economic progress
Richard Grenell, the US president's special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, has asked Pristina to abolish taxes (tariffs) of 100 percent on goods from Serbia in order to move the dialogue forward.
Richard Grenell met in Pristina with the president of so-called Kosovo Hashim Thaci, and after the meeting, said he would focus on economic progress.
The US president's special envoy also tweeted on the occasion, stressing that it was necessary for Pristina to abolish 100 percent taxes on goods from central Serbia introduced more than a year ago.
"We must make progress - which includes dropping the tariffs," Grenell wrote on Twitter after meeting with Thaci.
Grenell will continue with meetings in Pristina today; it is certain that he will meet with Self-Determination leader Albin Kurti and Kosovo Democratic League leader Isa Mustafa to discuss forming the next government.
Donald Trump's special envoy arrives in Belgrade on Friday to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
According to the Blic newspaper, Grenell will demand a rapid resumption of dialogue in Belgrade after the success due to the signing of a letter of intent to establish direct flights between Belgrade and Pristina.
The newspaper added that Vucic's condition would be Pristina abolishing taxes on goods from central Serbia.
