Ambassadors wearing masks arrive at Sarajevo meeting looking for solution to air pollution
The photos were published by British Ambassador Matthew Field, who said more decisive action is needed
Due to problems with air pollution in Sarajevo, a number of senior international officials and ambassadors met with Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto today, wearing pollution masks as a symbolic gesture.
British Ambassador Matthew Field took to Twitter to positively assess the meeting, but added that more decisive action is needed, Sarajevo-based Klix.ba website reports.
"Important discussions today between Sarajevo Canton and international partners on air quality. Good steps are being taken, but more decisive action is needed at all levels," Field wrote.
He also posted photos from the meeting, as well as scenes from the park in front of the government of the Sarajevo Canton, where a group of citizens staged a peaceful protest over heavy air pollution in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The gathering was attended by about 50 citizens, and the photos show that they, as well as international officials, wore face masks.
