Lukashenko arrived in Belgrade yesterday

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko continues his visit to Serbia today with official talks with President Aleksandar Vucic. The Belarus president has been welcomed in a ceremony in front of the Palace of Serbia, after which the two presidents met face-to-face, followed by a plenary meeting of the delegations of Serbia and Belarus.

Lukashenko arrived in Belgrade yesterday when he was greeted by President Vucic at Nikola Tesla Airport. They later laid wreaths at the Monument to the Liberators of Belgrade and at the Red Army Monument.

The president of Serbia welcomed the Belarus president, telling him that Serbians love the Belarus people and respect what they have achieved and made of their country.

Vucic stressed that the people of Serbia will never forget Lukashenko's visit and support in 1999 and the love and support he showed to the Serbian people at the time (during NATO bombing).

"You were the only world leader who, at a time when it was difficult for Serbia, came and wanted to show how much he loves the Serbian people and our Serbia," said Vucic.

"Our political relations are open and brotherly. Trade is growing, we still have a lot to do to increase it, but I think we have a lot of room for that and I am convinced that with your support we can do that job," said Vucic.

"Thank you for coming to Serbia. Your visit means a lot to us and please come to our country more often," said the president of Serbia.

The ceremonial welcome began with an honorary salvo and the sounding of the national anthem of Belarus, followed by the anthem of the Republic of Serbia.

The president of Belarus and the president of Serbia were greeted by the Honorary Guard, and afterwards members of the Government of Serbia welcomed Lukashenko.
