Election day in Kosovo marked as "medium risk percentage": 650 police officers on the ground

About 650 police officers will be deployed in northern Kosovo on the day of the early parliamentary elections, Sunday, October 6, Kontakt Plus has learned from the Kosovo police.

Kosovo Police Regional Spokesman Branislav Radovic tells Radio Kontakt Plus that about 470 police officers will be deployed in northern Kosovo on Sunday, while an additional 200 will be sent as help from Pristina. Radovic said that as far as Kosovo police are concerned, everything will be covered and everything is ready for Sunday.

According to police estimates, incidents are not expected in northern Kosovo on the day of the early parliamentary elections on October 6, but the security situation is marked as having "a medium risk percentage."

On that day, police officers will work 12 hours. On election day, the police are implementing a special operational plan, which includes enhanced activities and an increased number of police officers engaged in the field.

"Incidents are not expected, although, in view of the security situation, it has been estimated from our regional Directorate as well as from Pristina that this is a medium risk percentage, which means that it's not a problematic security percentage. Security assessment, which is very important to us, we don't expect problems," Radovic told Kontact Plus earlier.

According to him, the operational plan envisages a number of mobile and static patrols.
