We are honored to attend Visegrad Group meeting: Vucic arrives at Lany chateau

After the meeting, a joint press conference will be held, planned to be addressed by all participants

The Summit of the Visegrad Group (V4) has started in the Lany chateau in Prague, with the participation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic who is there at the invitation of Czech President Milos Zeman.

Vucic arrived in Prague late last night, where he was greeted at the airport by a guard of honor and a display of Serbian and Czech flags.

The president of Serbia is participating in a plenary session, whose topic is, "The EU and the Western Balkans," where Czech President Zeman, Hungary's Janos Ader, Poland's Andrzej Dud, Slovakia's Zuzana Caputova and, as a guest, Slovenian head of state Borut Pahor will all speak.

"We are especially honored to be able to attend a meeting between the Visegrad Group and our friend Borut Pahor. For Serbia, this is a very important day and an important meeting," said Vucic, along with posting a photo with the leaders of the V4 countries and Slovenia on his Instagram account @buducnostsrbijeav.

After the meeting, a joint press conference will be held, planned to be addressed by all participants.

The invitation to the president of Serbia to attend the meeting of this group of Central European countries came after the meeting of the Committee on European Affairs of member states of the Visegrad Group, held in Bratislava, which noted Serbia's efforts to implement reforms, and assessed that these efforts should be valorized by increasing the number of open and closed (EU membership negotiations) chapters.

Serbia is thus the first Western Balkan country to be invited to the summit, while it was the meeting's host, the Czech president, who invited Vucic to the gathering.

The Visegrad Group brings together a region that is increasingly important in the EU, but also brings together some economies with the highest growth.
