40-year-old N.R. is suspected of carrying out an armed robbery at a gas station overnight in the Belgrade suburb of Batajnica.

The footage from security cameras shows a man wearing a motorcycle helmet arriving on foot at the gas station, carrying a gas can with him, pretending to want to fill it up.

Moments later, he enters the store, pulls out a gun, charges at the gas station clerk and the cashier demanding money, then pushes them into a room where he planned to lock them.

He takes a little over 85,000 dinars (EUR 720) from the cashier. She puts the money in a bag and the robber escapes the scene.

Citizens report the robbery to the police. As the thief was leaving the gas station, the police were already at the scene and arrest him. The money and the gun were both found.

The robber fired several shots in the air as he was trying to escape.

We learned that N.R. is a repeat offender from Pecinci who has in the past committed various crimes, and who has spent several years in prison.

He is now being held in police custody that can last up to 48 hours. The first results of the investigation indicate that this was not the only gas station he has robbed in this way.

There is operational knowledge that he is responsible for robberies committed at several more gas stations in Belgrade.
