Serious warning issued about upcoming heatwave that's set to last a week

The temperature will rise to 36 degrees Celsius

The Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (RHMZ) on Tuesday issued a high-temperature warning for the country, covering the period trough August 14.

According to a statement, tomorrow and the following days will be very warm, with daily highs raning from 34 to 38 degrees.

The weather will be a little more pleasant only on Thursday and Friday in the north and west of the country, where there will be more clouds.

Winds will be weak to moderate, blowing from the south and southwest. Tomorrow morning temperatures in Serbia will range from 13 to 22 degrees, while the highest daily will range from 33 to 36 degrees.

It will also be sunny and very warm tomorrow in Belgrade, with the daily high of around 35 degrees.

Showers and thunderstorm are expected on Thursday at the end of the day, during the night and on Friday morning in some places in the north and west of Serbia, and will only be possible in the mountain areas on Friday afternoon.

So far this summer, the maximum temperature in the Serbian capital has been 34 degrees, and it has been measured several times. It it is almost certain that the upcoming weather will be similar in other parts of our country.

TROPICAL NIGHTS, STARTING FROM THURSDAY

Until Wednesday, nights will be comfortable for sleep - but starting on Thursday, be prepared for tropical nights and mornings as temperatures will not drop below 20 degrees.

"From Wednesday to Friday we expect an inflow of very warm air from North Africa. There will be a strong warm wave, temperatures will be around 34 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, and up to 37 on Thursday. Nighttime temperatures will also rise, so I advise anyone who doesn't bear the heat well to take advantage of these few days of refreshment and recharge their batteries - because the hot summer will make a fast and strong comeback," says Marko Cubrilo, professor of geography from Novi Sad and a renowned meteorologist.

Friday and next weekend will see maximum temperatures that could be more moderate, in the range from 25 to 31 degrees, but that will not last long, as all forecasts confirm.

"It's highly certain that after this refreshment, from August 11, a new period of very warm weather will arrive, which would last until sometime in mid-August," says Cubrilo.

Only from August 15-16 can we expect some kind of cooling.

"There are signals that indicate a significant deterioration of the weather, with rain and a colder period at the beginning of the second half of August, but this is a really far away," concludes Cubrilo.
