The video of the funeral in Serbia caused chaos: A party with trumpets and wreaths, and the climax happened when they climbed on the coffin and started to dance (VIDEO)
Some people think that it is terrible and morbid to dance around a dead person in a coffin, while others think it is perfectly fine if that was the last wish of the deceased
Customs on funerals depend from one area to another, but the one recorded in Sombor can be included as one of the more unusual ones. Namely, a video of a funeral of certain Kata was published on Facebook, who was sent away to the eternal rest with trumpets, happy songs, dancing around the coffin and on it.
Reactions to this video were divided, and the orchestra which was hired on that day responded in the comments.
"We were invited and we came, that is the customs with Hungarian Roma people. We went there, did the job, and that was it."
However, there were those who were disgusted by those scenes, thinking that it is terrible, sick, and morbid for someone to dance or to have fun around a dead person.
"Shame on you, there is no fun with dead people, let them rest in peace. Wishes are fulfilled for the loved ones while they are alive, not when they are dead. Especially when they are jumping on the coffin, those women, they have no shame, this is outrages", someone was disgusted by the video.
Someone thought, no matter the last wish of the deceased, that they shouldn't dance or climb on the coffin.
Then, the cousin Katina responded, explaining that she loved music and that this was her wish. "We will never forget you. She is not from banat, she lived in Novi Sad, but the family is from Sombor. Everybody should be sent to the other world like this. Don't talk nonsense".
"That is my godmother. Rest in peace, you were a cheerful person and I know that this was your wish, you have always talked about this. Farewell godmother".
There was a discussion if this was customs from Roma people of just a wish of the lady, the users of Facebook looked at the problem of nationalism, saying that it is not important what nationality you are, if that is someone's wish.
- I think that it has nothing to do with nation, if you are Roma or a Serb, it was probably the last wish to be sent off by music, ant the wish can be left by anyone, a Gipsy or a Serb, we shouldn't insult each other - wrote one user.
- We, Roma, believe that the soul travels after death. This is just a farewell - written in one of the comments.
