Shaqiri is not coming to Belgrade: Klopp left the Albanian in Liverpool due to fear of Red Star fans
The coach of Reds from Enfield decided not to bring the naturalized Swiss to the fourth round match against Red Star
Xherdan Shaqiri won't be in the team of Liverpool against Red Star, and he won't travel to Belgrade with the Reds. Jurgen Klopp decided to leave the Albanian from Kosovo behind, who is participating for the Swiss national team, due to fear for his safety in Serbia.
Even with no organized arrival of Red Star fans to England, Shaqiri was whistled during every contact by Red and White fans, who somehow got the tickets, and the German coach realized that it was risky for the naturalized Swiss to travel to Belgrade.
- We heard and we read the speculations and we talked about the possible welcome for Shaqiri, although we have no idea what could happen, we want to be focused 100% on football and we can't think about anything else. We want to be respected and to avoid any kind of disturbance. So, Shaqiri wasn't included in all of this and he accepted it - Klopp said.
To recall, Shaqiri said before the match that Red Star is not such a big team, and the fans recently discovered that he writes some of the messages to his former team players in Serbian language, so they additionally insulted him.
He had a verbal conflict with Marko Gobeljic in the Serbian language, and Klopp made a decision to keep the Albanian out of the team to lower the tensions.
This is the list of football players Klopp will take to Belgrade: Alisson, Mignolet, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Salah, Gomez, Lallana, Robertson, Origi, Solanke, Matip, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold.
The Reds team will land on Nikola Tesla airport on Monday at 15:25 with charter flights from Liverpool.
