Her sister Jana will soon join this humane act, she is waiting for her hair to grow a bit more
Jovana Simovska, a student of the sixth grade of the elementary school Andreja Saveski Cicis from Tetovo, in the northwest of Macedonia, showed that she has a big and humane heart. She cut her long and nurtured hair and she donated it to the Dutch organization Stichting Haarwensen which will use it to make a wig for children who are sick from dangerous diseases.
The people who are sick with cancer and who are treated with chemotherapy lose their hair. The loss of hair, although harmless because it will grow up, for most people, especially for women, is especially hard, especially for children. They lose confidence and they lose their old identity. They see that the sickness is changing them, and it is unbearable to many.
- I've tried to find out how to do some humane act. Later on, I found out that I can donate my hair to the children who are sick with cancer. My mother contacted a Dutch organization, and they told me that the hair must be at least 30 cm long, to be braided. undamaged and undyed. The hair should be placed in an envelope and shipped. And people with long hair, instead of throwing it away they should donate it - little Jovana said for the Skopje television Telma.
Her younger sister Jana will follow her example. She will cut her hair and she will donate it to the children sick from cancer.
- I wish to donate my hair but I have to wait a bit more for it to grow. That is humane for the kids who suffer from cancer - said Jana Simovska.
Snezana Stojanovska, a psychologist at elementary school Andreja Saveski Cicis, says there are no words to describe the feeling of everyone in the school because of the humane gesture of two sisters, their students Jovana and Jana, who are small heroes with big hearts.
- When I heard about the initiative I was fascinated, and I told the news to everybody. We are all proud of them. I say we should believe in children, in their abilities and their initiatives. They can pleasantly surprise us from time to time. I hope that these two girls will be a good example for other children to be humane and to do good deeds - Snezana Stojanovska proudly said.
Little sisters Jovana and Jana say that they will wait for their hair to grow and they will donate it again, and they plan on performing other humane acts.
