Croatian professor Goran Vojkovic, who is also a columnist, has published a scandalous tweet about the anniversary of "Storm" that has provoked vicious reactions in both Serbia and Croatia.
Vojkovic wrote that on this day, 23 years ago, the "Championship of Republika Srpska Krajina in light athletics started".
- On this day, 23 years ago, the Championship of Republika Srpska Krajina in light athletics started, better known as escaping. They were unstoppable - wrote Vojkovic on Twitter.
Among the first to comment was a Twitter user from Croatia, Neven Slajhert, and Vojkovic's comment followed:
"Very funny. Would it still be funny if someone made jokes about running from Vukovar?
"- Of course, when someone attacks someone else's state, people die, and Serbia attacked Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. A lot of people died in four aggressions. It was funny watching them when a true force appeared from the other side. Where is that great heroism?"
"You are eighter stupid or rude. It was a civil war between Croatian and Serbian people in Croatia. Your goal was to expel/exterminate Serbs from the territory of Serbia and you succeeded. Serbia would blow you away in if it had attacked you because you were, as an army, a bit stronger than soda water!"
One off the more striking reactions came from Serbian movie director Srdjan Dragojevic:
"As my friend from Dalmatia said - Croats are as primitive as Serbs, and not funny as Slovenians. A "winning" combination, of course. About you psychopath, obviously, personality disorders have no nationality."
