The Slovenian Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning proposed the killing of 200 bears and 11 wolves in order to deal with their increased population.
Hunters will have permission to shoot 200 bears and 11 wolves between October of this year and September 2019, according to a proposal, which will be conducted through public consultations by the end of July, STA reports.
- About 150 bears lived in Slovenia in 1960, their number has since risen to around 1,000 - said Damjan Orazen, director of the Slovenian Forest Service.
