Thousands of people protested all around Greece demanding from the Greek government to take a firm attitude in negotiations with neighboring Macedonia about the name of the country.

The central gathering was held on Wednesday evening at Pela, the birthplace of Alexander the Great.
Gathering in the village Pela was one out of 20 protests, which are organized across the country by people who are strongly against the use of name Macedonia in the dispute between Athens and Skopje, reports AP.
There were political opposition parties among the participants, local officials and the organization representatives, and the presence of Greek Orthodox Church could be seen, the Greek agency ANA reported.
The gatherings were held in Thessaloniki, Katerini, Kavala, Larisa, Kastoria, Policastro and many other cities.
The participants of the gathering waved with Greek flags, they wore slogans and religious symbols and they shouted "Greece means Macedonia" and "Keep your hands away from Macedonia".
