My father was killed in war, I extremely hated Serbs and everything Serbian, and then I fell in love with you: Letter and a lesson of a Croat
- My father was killed in the war as a civilian - the Croat started
A post on "Reddit" of a Croat who "hated Serbs and everything Serbian" has set the social network on fire. The war that took place in former Yugoslavia left a mark on many people, and it did on the unknown man.
The unknown Croat expressed his feelings in the comments.
- My father was killed in the war as a civilian. That left a mark and I grew up having a rightist opinion, I hated Serbs and everything Serbian. But extremely hated. I am one of those people who f*cks up everything Serbian on YouTube comments - this young man started his post.
When he spent time with Serbians, he started looking at them differently.
- Ever since I discovered Reddit, I started entering the Serbian-Croatian discussions and on /r/ Croatia and to provoke fiercely. Over time I got closer to some of you spontaneously, I even loved some of you, and I realized that there is no more hatred. It was one of a kind surprise that completely surprised me - the Croat continued.
The social network has helped people to become closer.
- I still hate the people who took the life of my father, I will never be able to forgive that, even though I don't know who they are. But I fell in love with Serbs as a people here on /r/Serbia and I finally learned that you should never look at someone as a whole. There were individuals from your and our sides that deserve only the worse. That is one thing I understood because I justified "mine" like that the entire life - the unknown man wrote.
Time heals wounds.
- I felt the need to share this with you. I know that many will roll their eyes and think that I am just acting, but I really needed this as a confirmation that I really snapped out of it and threw away one page of my life. To move on. Thank you /r/Serbia and I wish a lot of fortune and good health to all of you - the Croat finished his post.
