Russian spoke about the situation in Kosovo: Monasteries under siege, the police are bringing the food to the nuns
He stressed that Russia expects the OSCE to step up its efforts to counter "radical nationalism among Albanians in Kosovo"
The Russian envoy to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich said that the Albanians in Kosovo are trying to impose an economic blockade of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo.
- The Serbian Orthodox Church continues to face poor treatment. Albanians in Kosovo are trying to impose an economic blockade, deprivation of property and all means of living - said the Russian diplomat at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna.
As an example, Lukasevic quoted controversy over the Visoki Decani Monastery, which is included on UNESCO list of endangered world heritage.
According to the Russian representative, local Kosovo authorities ignore various decisions, including court rulings, which confirm the property rights of the monastery on the surrounding territory.
In addition, Lukashevich said, the monastery in Djakovica was recently under siege of the extremists, and the police had to intervene and deliver food and other assets to the nuns.
He stressed that Russia expects the OSCE to step up its efforts to counter "radical nationalism among Albanians in Kosovo".
