Belgrade has its own twin brother in a brotherly country: Here's what this is about (PHOTO)

Nizhny Novgorod is located at the mouth of the Volga and Oka River, and Belgrade at the mouth of the Sava and the Danube

Belgrade has its twin which is 2.614 kilometers away from it and is located in the brotherly country of Russia. Its name is Nizhny Novgorod, the birthplace of the famous writer Maxim Gorky, and the similarities with our main city are so many that many think that the same architect has designed a plan for the construction of these two cities, even though that they were built by the same workers.

Two twin brothers are similar in many ways, urban landscape, the number of inhabitants, towers and ramparts, buildings, streets, bridges, peninsulas. And, in addition, they also had a similar past because both of them are at the mouth of two rivers, so they had a turbulent history and were forced to raise their fortresses and ramparts to protect themselves from invaders.

Nizhny Novgorod is located at the mouth of the Volga and Oka River, and Belgrade at the mouth of the Sava and the Danube.

THE SIMILARITIES OF THE TWO TWIN CITIES

The city which was a great industrial center from 1932 to 1990 was named Gorki after Maksim Gorki. It is a seat of Kremlin, a fortress and a fortified complex.

And this fortress is the first association that this city has something similar with Belgrade. They are approximately located in the same place, both the old city and the fortress.

Another similarity is in the bridges connecting the banks of the river. Branko's bridge connects old and new Belgrade, and in Nizhny Novgorod, that bridge is named Kanava's bridge. Both of them are located in the same place, they even look alike because they have three lanes of traffic in both directions. They even have the traffic of the same intensity.

These are just some of the similarity because both Belgrade and Nizhny Novgorod have peninsulas, blocks, similar peers, and airports located in the east part of the city.

It is incredible that in addition to architectural similarities, these two cities had a similar number of inhabitants according to the data from 2014, Belgrade 1,223,796, and Nizhny Novgorod 1,263,873. Also, the density of the population at that time was similar, in our city 3 436.76, and in Nizhny 3 082.62.

The twins are also similar in size because Belgrade has 359 square kilometers and the brotherly city has 410.

It is incredible that the two cities can have so many similarities, and that they are also located in brotherly countries.
