Measles are taking lives: Parent's whose children aren't vaccinated have to pay attention to one thing

Unfortunately, there are cases in Serbia where vaccination is not possible because the health situation does not allow it, which brings a lot of patients in an unfavorable position, but, according to professor Zarko Rankovic, there is no room for panic

A man on the Infective Clinic on the Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade died before him. They both had in common that they didn't receive MMR vaccine. On the other hand, the little boy from Nis couldn't receive it because he was born prematurely, six weeks before the date, and his lungs were not mature, he had pneumonia five or six times in his life, dr. Dejan Milivojevic, the head of the intensive care of Clinical Center in Nis said.

Unfortunately, there are cases in Serbia where vaccination is not possible because the health situation does not allow it, which brings a lot of patients in an unfavorable position, but, according to professor Zarko Rankovic, there is no room for panic.

- It is hard to defend yourself from measles because they are transmitted by droplets. We should preventively ventilate the rooms, spend more time in the fresh air and eat food rich in vitamins, including the winter stores food. Everything listed is for improvement of immunity. It is very important not to take children to large gatherings and children's parties because some of the children present could be infected - the famous Serbian infectious disease doctor.

- Measles is usually cured with complete recovery. If the children who received vaccine get sick because the vaccine doesn't give the full immunity, there is less chance for complications. If an unvaccinated person gets sick, they have to go to the doctors immediately, to raise immunity, to monitor the situation, to prevent possible pneumonia.

- Measles, like everything else, have their own flow, and we all got through it, but as soon as the first symptoms appear, go straight to the doctors, no alternative methods will help - said Dr. Rankovic.

Epidemiologists warn that the measles may take more children's lives if the number of vaccinated children does not increase.

- We have more and more sick every day, and every tenth person gets pneumonia, which is life-threatening. The last case from Nis is just like that. If the trend of non-vaccination continues, I am afraid that we will have more death cases, especially among smaller children - epidemiologist Dr. Zoran Radovanovic said.
