Drama in a school in Belgrade and a cry of a mother: My daughter said that they will kill her, that they say she has scabies, they wash their hands after touching her
Girl was returning from school so tortured, she was even suffocating, and they had to go to the cardiologist
- The fears remain even when they leave the school - said Zorana A, the mother of a girl who was a victim of peer violence in elementary school. The story about a terrible attack of three students on a girl from Technical School in Arandjelovac disturbed many people, especially Zorana A, whose daughter has been going through hell since the fifth grade in an elementary school in Belgrade.
- Everything was completely normal until then, and then the stories started that she has scabies. A group of five-six students, with girls leading them, started disrespecting her and they washed their hands when they touched her. Soon, no one from the class wanted to be friends with her, and when they went on an excursion she would sit alone in the bus - remembers Zorana with bitterness in her voice.
First of all, she tried talking with the parents of the children.
- They assured me that it was just a joke. However, it has gone too far, and the children from the other class didn't want to be friends with her. I informed the homeroom teacher, the pedagogue, psychologist, director... I begged them to have a parent meeting on this subject. But, no one responded, although everybody knew about this problem - said Zorana for Blic in disbelief.
- Since she signed out her child and reported everything to the education inspection, they told her that the peer violence case is outdated - she adds.
As she said, the girl was returning from school so tortured, she was even suffocating, and they had to go to the cardiologist.
- I bought books on peer violence and I gave them around the school, hoping that children will understand that what they are doing is wrong. Instead of that, a group of girls pushed her in the corner of the gym and insulted her so much that my daughter told me "sign me out or they will kill me" - said Zorana, and adds that she eventually signed the child out of the school.
- When I informed the educational inspection, they told me it's too late. Then I realized that the school was just postponing everything so the case can become outdated. Perhaps, we did the wrong thing, we escaped from all of that, but believe me, when peer violence starts, it's impossible to stop it - said Zorana.
As she said, it has been several years since then, the time didn't erase all the wounds.
- She is insecure, she thinks that her friends will stop seeing her if she ever refuses to meet with them. When she chose the high school, she chose the one with no girls that harassed her before. You know, no one ever apologized for everything, and even the principal, who questioned those children, admitted that what they did was terrible. My appeal to all the parents who are going through the same, is to be with their child and not to believe the school - said Zorana.
