Petr Spegan (71) from Decin in the Czech Republic lost his life yesterday when he took one wrong step during climbing the rock in Demir Kapija gorge. He was climbing the rock in the canyon with rope in the sector called "Malcek Spalcek" in the entrance to the city of Demir Kapija, in the south of Macedonia.
- When he climbed to the height of around 20 meters, he lost balance and he fell down the chasm and received serious injuries, which were fatal. The crew from the police station and Emergency ambulance came immediately, but it was just determined that the person has died. It was confirmed by the conversation with other members of the alpinist group that it was not a criminal act, but an accident - stated Veroljub Dodevski, spokesman for the Police department from Veles. However, the body of the misfortunate alpinist from the Checz Republic was given to the Institute for the forensic medicine in Skopje for an autopsy.
Aleksandar Klenov, an internationally acclaimed and well-known alpinist from Russia, has been living in Demir Kapija for several years with his family, says for Telegraf that the late Petr Spegan, an experienced alpinist, came to Macedonia with a team of eleven people from the Czech Republic. Among them were people from various parts of the Czech Republic and different ages.
