The first transport giant Antonov 124 landed at the military airport in Batajnica from the Aviation Institute in Luhovic near Moscow.

The first two MiGs-29 aircraft from the Russian Federation were delivered tonight to the Serbian Army. The landing of the AN 124 transport plane and the reception of aircraft at the Batajnica airport was attended by the Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, the Chief of General Staff of the Army of Serbia, General Ljubisa Dikovic, and the Commander of the RVIPP, Major General Ranko Zivak.

Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, after landing of "Ruslan" at the Batajnica Airport, said that an information arrived on 4th July that agreement will be fulfilled on October 2nd, 2017 between the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin and the Supreme Commander of the Army of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic

- As you can see, this happened and on October 2, 2017, the first two MiGs of military assistance that we received from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at Batajnica Airport. By Friday, the remaining four planes will arrive and we will be able to proudly say that, for the first time since 1987, our aviation has been getting new devices. It is a great thing that we can manage fighting for the improvement of our members, but also to make our army stronger, more organized and more modern - said minister Vulin.

Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubisa Dikovic, pointed out that today is a great day for our Army and our Air Force, because, after almost 10 years we got new airplanes, which is very important for the overall defense capability of our country. He thanked the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Government for securing the aircraft and stressed that our aviation has been saved with today's act.

Commander of the RVIPRO General Major Ranko Zivak emphasized that this is a historic day for our Air Force and Air Defense, adding that these aircraft will be a significant contribution to our capabilities and that the members of the RVIPVO will do their best to ensure the security of the Republic of Serbia and to keep security of its airspace at the highest level.

The Russian MiGs were recently refreshed with the new paint in Moscow, and they were disassembled to be transported to Serbia.
