Doctor stole jewelry from a deceased woman and tried to sell it to her granddaughter
The jewelry shop worker immediately recognized the earrings and the ring of her late granny
The Ohrid police filed criminal charges against S.S. (46) from the nearby village of Konjsko because of the suspicion that he committed two criminal offenses - heavy theft and abuse of official position and authority.
The suspect worked as a nurse in the internal department of the General Hospital in Ohrid, where the elderly woman T. J. (81) from the Kosel village was on treatment. When the grandma died on the internal ward, on September 5, at about 11:25 am, the nurse took off gold earrings from her ears and a golden ring from her finger.
In order to get rid of the loot as soon as possible, S.S. took the stolen jewelry to a jewelry shop in Ohrid, where he wanted to sell it. He showed his ID to the worker, issued in Ohrid, and he asked her if they wanted to buy the jewelry.
By pure luck, the granddaughter of the late granny worked there and she immediately recognized the earrings and the ring of her grandma. When she asked the unknown man where did he get the gold jewelry, he got scared and ran away.
The worker went to the police station right away and reported the theft.
The granddaughter and the relatives of the late granny suspected that the theft was done by S.S., the nurse from the internal ward of General hospital in Ohrid, but he negated that saying that the woman was admitted to the hospital without jewelry.
Ohrid police determined during the investigation that he stole the jewelry from the late granny, and criminal charges were filed against him.
