Lake in Melenci with healing powers dried up due to scorching heat, it is a scene from hell (PHOTO) (VIDEO)

In addition to the drought that has destroyed the crops this year, wine growers and fruit growers in the area of Melenac have problems with sand that wind carries from the surface of the dried lake Rusanda.

The heat in Serbia has broken the historical record: Here is whether an emergency situation will be declared

The red meteoalarm is devastating for crops in Banat, and the reason is drought, and then the high temperatures that are not going down, so there is no chance for the situation to improve. An aggravating circumstance for farmers in the vicinity of Melenac is the dried Rusanda lake.

The separation of salty dust from the dried lake occurs due to the effect of frequent and strong winds characteristic of this area. Dust causes drying of the plant world in a wider lake area, and in addition, drying reduces the healing properties of peloids.

- This is not the first time that such a problem occurs. Earlier we received money, a project was made, wells for water supply of the lake were drilled, but the project meant that the lake always had the same water level.

- Dry lake, and the wind carrying dry sand, dust from the mud, reflect badly on the leaves and vines. The quality of grapes is not the same, berries do not grow, and the grapes can't be sweet without water - said Dusan Adamov, president of winemakers Peskara from Melenac.

The project documentation from 2005 foresees the drilling of wells that would supply the lake with water, but they are not used today.

The lake represents the abandoned meander of Tisa. Its length is about 5.5 kilometers, width 200-600 meters. Depth depends on the part of the year and may vary between 0.5 and 1.5 meters. Its bottom is covered with a mud of predominantly inorganic origin, with a smell of sulfur dioxide. It has high salinity.

The resort was built 1867 with the same name at the north east part of the lake because of the healing properties of the water.

According to the legend that still lives among the people of Melenci, a woman named Roksana has lost her geese that went to the nearby lake. So she had to return them home every day, treading over the black mud. As she suffered from severe rheumatism, she completely recovered.
