Testament of Esma Redzepova has been opened: The queen of Roma music left all of her assets to Macedonia (PHOTO)
Esma started writing her Last Will last year in the middle of June
The queen of Roma music Esma Redzepova Teodosievska remained the queen till the end. Her will was opened yesterday and it says that she leaves all of her assets to Macedonia.
- She spoke for years that she wishes to leave her home of culture and humanity to Macedonia, and she fulfilled that wish. The last will of Esma was opened and it clearly states that she gifts all of her property to the state. She loved Macedonia very much, and Macedonia loved Esma. Everywhere in the world, in interviews she mentioned Macedonia. She carried Macedonian song, soul and thoughts in her heart. That is why she gave all of her assets to Macedonia - said Zorana Kostovka, her closest associate to Radio Free Macedonia.
Esma Redzepova Teodosievska died last year on December 11th after short illness. Legendary singer died at the age of 73.
She received a prestigious title in 2013, National Artist of Republic of Macedonia. She held countless concerts around the world and many humanitarian actions, ans he left 47 children she adopted, raised, and led to the right way.
Even as a little girl, Esma was dreaming of becoming a singer. Her dream came true, and she was later crowned the Queen of Roma music, famous and well known in entire world. She sang in front of great state officials - Tito, Gaddafi, Khrushchev, Saddam Hussein, Reza Pahlavi, Indira Gandhi... She traveled four continents - several times, and her concerts were always full. She could live in any world capital, but she always returned home, to her home Skopje, where she was born on 8 August 1943, in the street Ivo Lola Ribar no 20, in the house which no longer exists.
As if she sensed her end is coming near, Esma started writing a Will last year in the middle of June. That is when she said that she will give all of her property to the state of Macedonia, her house where Museum and Home of Humanity and Art "Stevo and Esma Teodostievski" were placed in Skopje. Museum, which was Esma's home, has 750 square meters and about 1.300 square meters of yard.
- I spent around a million euros on building the Museum. I have been working since i was eight, and all of my possessions, even the Museum, were built with my effort. Museum will testify about me and Stevo, our home and world successes, rewards and recognition - Esma told at the time.
In her home - Museum, rewards are displayed which famous couple won during their rich and long careers. There are over a thousand rewards in one place, commendations, medals, costumes, dresses, musical instruments, photos from performances and family pictures of Esme and 48 children she adopted and raised.
- After my death, the public will be able to see many rewards and recognition i received for my humanitarian work, which i never spoke about. I will give it all to the state and i am sure it will continue to nurture my character and work. I want the museum of Esma and Steva to become a home of Culture where people will gather and hold humanitarian activities, and i want National kitchen to be opened in the lower part of the museum, said Esma.
