CROATS CLAIM: "Serbs on willows" was placed on us by communists, that slogan is not ours, but from our neighbors
That Ferdinand was killed in Sarajevo with his wife, so the Empire declared a war to Serbia. I was good to attract as many volunteers as possible into war. Marko Natlacen made a poem and gave it a name THUNDER OF BATTLE or SERBS ON WILLOWS"
"Serbs on willows" is not Croatian but Slovenian slogan. Marko Natlacen, Slovenian, allegedly wrote it on Slovenian language and published on 27 July 1914, as a program text in the paper "Slovenec". It can been be seen in the text of Kemal Mujicic, Croatian intellectual published on the blog "Kemoterapija", because the Jutarnji list did not want to publish it. That text is denial on the claims of writer Miljenko Jergovic in the text Croatian right has its Krleza.

"IGNORANCE IS FRAGILE
I want - i won't, i want - i won't, still i want and i won't
I want to react to one sentence, and not to be challenged by all those antics - (such as when is more right or left, up or down, Krleza or Marko Perkovic, Tito or Tudjman, Pavelic or Mihailovic, Viskovic or Matic, Olic or Jergovic ; I've had enough of drawer type - in this drawer I keep sugar in that locker flour, here Krleza, there in the drawer Perkovic, and this one Milenko who went to sleep ...) - wrote the respected Croatian literate Miljenko Jergovic, in the text Croatian right has its own Krleza (Jutarnji list, 22 March 2003, page 56).
Namely, words simply compete in that text which one will be most absurd, they collide with each other, as careless car drivers in thick Sarajevo fog, and he would, if he would have the courage, name the text stellar range of mighty nonsense, otherwise distinguished Croatian writer.
But, its not good to give final mark, since in this genre the speaker, otherwise distinguished Croatian writer, can flourish; or as Sidran's hero from that movie said - I am making progress each day; so you can concluded that distinguished Croatian literate will top all those nonsense from the mentioned text, and in many other texts mentioned here.
That's why i can not challenge what otherwise distinguished Croatian writer, writes, and he does not know what he writes about; he doesn't know because he did not read about it, nor inquired about what other people read, but, well, publicly wrote that what he has no idea of and therefore he has no idea it becomes a testimony that should be respected. Well, i don't really respect it.
Now, let's see whats the sentence. It is a sentence where otherwise distinguished Croatian writer, discusses Croatian writer Mile Budak, Ustasha officer and war criminal, as he was marked he then judiciary then, and, as such, he was freed of earthly cares, he was sentenced to death.
So, distinguished Croatian writer Miljenko Jergovic writes, it seems to me in ironic way: The few maxims (type "Bitter grass to bitter wound", "Serbs to willows" etc.) that adorned the intellectual biography of neorealism writer were spoken in several programmatic speeches, but they could not be risen to the place, at Croatian Krleza.
There, i wrote it and i live, next to Croatian Krleza.
But, dear brother, i was a bit touched by distinguished Croatian writer because he does not state the authors of these two intellectual maxims, which are used to decorate the intellectual biography of neorealism writer, and which were, these perky intellectual maxims, spoken in several programmatic speech, and thus arises that Mile Budak is intellectual author of these maxims. But he is not.
Bitter herbs to bitter wound is folk proverb, inspired by peaceful biblical quote "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth", "Sentence for a sentence" and so on. Our people has some benign sayings - "If he hits you with stone, hit him with bread"... but those thoughts are not the topic of this text. Thus: the intellectual author of the maxim "Bitter herbs to bitter wound" is not Mile Budak, he used that saying to express that he respects the biblical saying calling for revenge, more than he respects the Christ peaceful one about turning the other cheek...
With other intellectual maxim - metaphorically expressed by our intellectual and otherwise distinguished Croatian writer - Serbs to willows, is something greater sin of ignorance, not only of vocabulary we are talking in this text, of otherwise distinguished Croatian writer, but, many before him determined the authorship of the intellectual maxim to someone else.
So, everyone who did not know, and those who knew but kept silent as i did, i publish the real name of the author of intellectual maxims that many viciously credit precisely Mile Budak.
It is Marko Natlacen, Slovenian and Slovenian clerical. In fact, the whole product came from Slovenia: Slovenian wrote the text in Slovenian and published it on July 27, 1914, as a programming text into a paper Slovenec.
That Ferdinand was killed in Sarajevo with his wife, so the Empire declared a war to Serbia. I was good to attract as many volunteers as possible into war. Marko Natlacen made a poem and gave it a name THUNDER OF BATTLE or SERBS ON WILLOWS". At the time the poem was published, Mile Budak was entertaining himself with preparations to celebrate his birthday in war conditions with his friends. He wrote, yes, but as we know, not that kind of poetry.
That is why at the end f text, i publish the Marko Natlacanin poem in its original form, as some kind of poetic silly illustration to this reaction. I publish the poem just because i believe that publishing the author will show another of numerous lies, said and wrote against my country, that becomes a truth with constant repeat, and the spread of those truths speaker contributed with his writings, otherwise distinguished Croatian writer. And that would be it.
When it comes to the literary value of Mile Budak, one could not say that I am a fan of this kind of prose. On the contrary. Maybe I can even agree with Mijo Mirkovic (Mate Balota) (Mile Budak, entitled BUDAKOVO "OGNJISTE" was released in 1939 Krleza Pecat, No. 3, page. 180-184), who finished his text with the words (if i remember): Mile Budak prose is somehow hanging in the air, and the peasants, as we know, live on the earth. No exclamation mark, and it would be nice at the end of this ingeniously devised review. But Mijo Mirkovic did not like exclamation marks, and that should be respected.
At the time Cesarec and Krleza, 1919, in one editorial article, wrote about stupidity all around them, especially about stupidity of literary critics, especially Dr Dragutin Prosaska, with whom they had heated arguments at the time, clearly stating that they don't think Dr Dragutin Prohaska is stupid!
Please, i don't think Miljenko Jergovic is stupid, and i emphasize that. But he really knows how to write some nonsense, well done. (I barely avoided the exclamation mark here.) So in that sense, i express my foolish respect to him", reports Maxportal.hr.
THUNDER OF BATTLE or SERBS ON WILLOWS
"The heavens absorbs the bloody song,
Fedinand's blood is a mood of Zofija.
You called us for days to slaughter...
We got up from a long night and sleep.
We greet you with cannons, you Serbs,
We prepare a cold home with willows...
In the name of God armada comes to you,
Look how it shines from Belgrade,
We will clean the holy cross from dust,
For us thunder of battle is gust without fear.
We drew the shiny sword,
to wash your throne in blood".
