Confession of a Serb who miraculously survived an avalanche in the Alps: There was chaos, i don't know how i got out

"We hear explosions all night, because they are causing smaller avalanches to remove the snow"

At least four people died, and five are missing in a snow avalanche that happened near French ski resort TignesPrvoslav Karanovic, Serbis among the survivors.

The avalanche buried several skiers and caused great concern, and Serb Prvoslav Karanovic is among those who survived. He came with his wife and two children to Tignes, and the avalanche caught him while he was skiing on one of the tracks.

- I was skiing on the track, the storm began and then the avalanche started. There was a mess, I do not even know how I got down - witness Karanovic for "Blic".

- The risk of avalanche is on fourth degree today out of possible five. We are not going out of the hotel for two days. We hear explosions all night, since they are making targeted explosions to remove snow caused by the avalanche and to avoid new greater avalanches. Helicopters are constantly flying over the resort, and there are at least five or six people from the ski resort security on the tracks - said Karanovic.

He said that greater tragedy was avoided by coincidence, since there were less tourists on the track than usual, because school holiday was over and many left home.

Majority of guests on Tignes still fears of possible avalanches, and only the most experiences skiers are going out to the track.

- Visibility is very low, there is a lot of snow. Older residents don't remember that this much snow fell in March in such a small period of time. There was so much snow i could not find my car in the morning. The wind is very strong, and there are mostly bare highs in Tignes, there are no trees, and that probably caused an avalanche, with the snow that fell very quickly - said Karanovic.
