Great start for our country at the European Indoor Championship
On the first day of competition at the European Indoor Championships in Athletics Serbia can already be proud of the first notable result.
Our competitor in the long jump, Lazar Anic set a personal best jump of 7.98 meters in the second series of qualifications and he qualified to the finals with that jump.
Albanian Izmir Smajlaj had notable result identical with the national record before the jump of our competitor.
- At the beginning we expected the norm for the finals to be 8 meters, but they reduced it to 7.90 m which made situation much easier because competition is strong, but i expected the result like this. I expect full Arena in the finals and i expect the result to be even better. We are going to the medal - said Antic after the jump.
Antic jumped 7.65 in the first series.
Let us remind you, Serbian national record still holds legendary Nenad Stekic with 8 meter jump.
Next to Antic, another Serbian representative is jumping in the qualifications, Strahinja Jovancevic.
