Grabar-Kitarovic: I hope we will have better relations when new president of Serbia comes

When asked if she believes that there will be better cooperation if Vucic wins the elections, Croatian president said that she had good relations with Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic

Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said that Croatia will be open and "they will welcome any kind of better cooperation" and that she hopes for visits on the presidential level.

She said that the elections were a matter of internal relations in Serbia, but added that Serbia wants a peaceful and prosperous future.

She expressed the hope that after the election of the new President of Serbia there will be an improvement of relations and the exchange of visits between the Serbia and Croatia at the presidential level, in order to discuss the outstanding issues between the two countries, according to Hina.

Grabar-Kitarovic said that she is finally hoping for meetings on presidential level between Serbia and Croatia, "but for them to be more than just a protocol, entertainment for the public, but specific, to talk about concrete issues, especially solving the open questions that have been there for a long time and which require courage, vision". 

Addressing the journalists on the occasion of two years since the inauguration, she said in the closure that this should not be just new kind of arguing on Serbia's way toward EU membership because she thinks that "we should be mature enough on both sides of the border to solve that as bilateral questions in mutual conversation".

- Specifically, at cooperation around Subotica declaration - he really did complete some very important promises towards improving life and working conditions of Croatian minorities in Serbia - said Grabar-Kitarovic speaking about the meeting with Serbian Prime minister about mid 2016 in Croatia and Serbia during which the Declaration was signed about improving the relations and solving the open questions between Serbia and Croatia.

The Declaration predicts working on improving the minorities protection, solving few missing persons, planning border disputes, succession, fight against terrorism and migrant crisis and joint development and cross-border projects of the EU.
