The construction of concrete structure instead of a wall in Kosovska Mitrovica
New concrete structure will be drawn to the pedestrian zone two meters to the wall, which was demolished
The beginning of construction of a concrete structure near the main Ibar bridge instead of a wall which was removed on Sunday in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica should start today.
North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic told Tanjug that in accordance with the agreement, which was reached on 4 February in Pristina, the building of a new concrete structure will begin today that will be drawn to the pedestrian zone two meters to the wall, which was demolished.
He said that the structure will have a height of 70 cm and a width of 120 and will in part be cut in order to set up a so-called immersion pillars and provide access to the pedestrian zone for ambulances, fire services and the police in case of need.
- I repeat, former structure and this one now that should be build are on the territory of North Mitrovica, citizens will be safe because with building of this structure all unintentional, evil or accident with a car if someone goes to the pedestrian zone - said Rakic.
The mayor of North Mitrovica said that the situation in the city was better after the tensions that were caused by the statement that Kosovo special forces could rush in and violently rush in and destroy the wall that was removed yesterday.
