Spider-man thieves raiding Belgrade: They are breaking in apartments over terrace, they work mostly in Vozdovac (VIDEO)
Cameras, alarms, bars on windows - are just some of the ways to improve protections
The time of Christmas and New Year's holidays is filled with joy, song and gifts. And thieves. Your nicely decorated house is a thieves Mecca for them. And Medina. That sparking Santa decoration that is climbing over the terrace - is a guide way thieves take to your euros. Or domestic currency. They are not picky.
HIGH PENALTIES FOR FIRECRACKERS: If a child commits an offence, parent will have to pay HUGE AMOUNTS
Unlike Santa, Serbian thief won't come in Red-White suit. He will rather brake in through your window wearing a phantom mask. Thieves have broken in 146 apartments this year alone in Vozdovac over terrace and robber them. The number is surely greater, because small robberies are not even reported.
- That is the easiest way because all the thief has to do is to jump over the terrace. They don't have to deal with the door on the building and on the apartment. They just jump over the terrace like this, they know where to press crowbar, where to lean the shoulder and they are in the apartment within 2 seconds - said Boris Semenjuk, police inspector from the Department for the Prevention of aggravated theft.
And while you are counting down on midnight, listening to some ballad, thieves are singing out loud in your apartment.
But, there is no room for desperation, there are ways to protect it. Cameras, alarms, bars on windows. This is especially important for those on the first floors or on ground floors, because they are the most endangered category. The truth is that your friends will have a feeling like they are arriving to Central Prison, but at least you will be safe. And it all costs around 100 euros.
- There are many ways to protect it. If you are going away for longer period of time, ask your neighbor to pick up your mail from the box, because that is a clear sign for the thief if you are home or not. When you go out at the evening, make sure to leave at least one light on. Never leave cash and other values at home - said inspector Semenjuk.
If all of this doesn't seem like enough protection, we recommend advises from the most famous boy in the world. Serbian thief certainly won't expect something like this:
