GREAT NEWS: All food made in Serbia will have a mark, and you will know what food has real QUALITY (PHOTO)
Meat products could soon find their way into stores and other products labeled with "Serbian quality" which could guarantee that these products were made especially from domestic resources
The Serbian government adopted a few days ago the Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture at which traders will be able to ask specific shelves in stores labeled "Serbian Quality". Only those products for which the manufacturer can demonstrate that the basic raw material comes from Serbia, but also that in terms of quality it is above the competition will be able to have National mark of higher quality, writes Politika.
QUEEN ELIZABETH asked for Leskovac CEVAPS on a plane, and TITO made her wish come true
The reasoning of the Regulation states that food manufacturers will be able to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture for the ability to use the trademark. The Ministry will establish a committee for professional evaluation of specific characteristics of agricultural and food products and issue decisions on the right to use this mark.
They will, according to announcements, be enrolled in a special register where they can also be removed if it is determined that a product labeled "Serbian quality" no longer meets the requirements in accordance with this Regulation.
- Manufacturers will have to provide product specifications, details of origin and quality of the basic raw material from which it is produced and a description of three specific properties in relation to the prescribed quality requirements for each type of product - according to the text of the Regulation.
List of the first beneficiaries of these tags will be published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, and already speculation began who from the sector of meat industry could boast with this mark even though it is known that manufacturers of mean products rely on imported resources.
Goran Papovic, President of the National Consumer Organization of Serbia says that this type of labeling is acceptable but they must set clear criteria and rules of the game, so the project would not be reduced to populism.
- I think that the state should stand behind the food labeling. Yes, but through financial support and not to be directly involved. Consumer associations would have to be included in such projects to ensure the impartiality of the comparative quality control of these products - considered Papovic.
