SERBIAN GREATEST WEALTH NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT: If foreigners knew about this, they would make a lot of money

- It is estimated that Serbia, according to data i found out, has 360 springs of mineral waters and thermal mineral water (spa water temperature ranges from 14 to 98 degrees) and could have at least 300 spas. Utilization of mineral springs in Serbia is only ten percent - said economist Branislav Gulan

Serbia has 360 springs of mineral and thermal mineral waters with temperatures over 110 degrees, but their touristic potential remains significantly unused. Besides being useful for heating, investing in spas and recreational centers, state would make a lot of money, experts consider. If we would only follow the examples of countries, which have much less springs, and have much more use from their thermal sources.

What does Serbia look like in the eyes of a young Russian girl

- It is estimated that Serbia, according to data i found out, has 360 springs of mineral waters and thermal mineral water (spa water temperature ranges from 14 to 98 degrees) and could have at least 300 spas. Utilization of mineral springs in Serbia is only ten percent - said economist Branislav Gulan in his analysis "Potential of geothermal springs in Serbia".

Numerous research show that potential of warm underground waters of temperatures ranging from 10 to 150 is equal as burning 200.000 tons of oil annually! Based on that Gulan concludes that heating plants, which in the season for energy consume 320 million euros, could halve costs.

A study by the Mining - Geology university done for the Ministry of Science shows that Serbia can take advantage of more than 2,000 megawatts of thermal power only from the water whose temperature is 20 degrees. That is, Gulan said, about two-thirds of the capacity of power plants in Obrenovac, which is a big savings in electricity and money.

Experts say that there is no need for significant investment and that investment in heating, and cooling and the use of geothermal water pays for itself a year or two.

"From Dejan Milenic, from Mining - Geology" university, we find out that with geothermal potential, we could warm up 50.000 apartments in Belgrade alone!", written in the analysis done by Gulan.

Within the project "Healing and miraculous springs" in the last few years on the southwest part of Serbia, researches have been done on 20 and more spas and waters to see their rejuvenation effects.

"All of these sources are still alive (they are from Mokragora White water, warm baths near Priboj and village near Arilje, Visoka , Sava sources in the Ovcar - Kablar Gorge and Sava water in Hisardzik, to Jovanova water on the Green mountain, Staparski spas, sources in Kamena gora ...), people visit them no matter what their accessibility. They believe in the healing properties of these waters, they use them for the eyes, skin, cardiovascular, bone and various other diseases. The most common sources are dedicated to male saints, first of St. Sava and St. Jovan the Baptist. There is also a belief in the divine power of healing on these sources" adds Gulan.

In addition to the development of tourism, energy geothermal resources can be used for heating large sports halls and other budgetary institutions. The use of geothermal resources for heating greenhouses, or for heating of buildings on farms, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and the price of heating these buildings, but it also encourages the development of vegetable and fruits.

Many countries in the world have recognized the potential of geothermal resources, among them Italy, the United States ... The biggest heating system based on geothermal energy exists in Reykjavik, Iceland. Almost all residential and commercial buildings in this city are connected to this system.
